Interconnectivity and the Global Digital Agenda

The Schmidt Program on Artificial Intelligence, Emerging Technologies, and National Power at the Jackson School will host a conversation with Tomas Lamanauskas, Deputy Secretary-General of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), on the evolving issues of interconnectivity, global advancement of the digital agenda (Connect 2030 Agenda), and the interplay of the emerging telecommunication technologies and infrastructural change. Ted Wittenstein, Executive Director of International Security Studies, will moderate.

Science and Literature in Russia and Eastern Europe Conference

The study of a reciprocal influence between science and literature has been gaining traction in recent years. Both scholarly and public interest in how science and literary culture interact has grown exponentially over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, scientific knowledge has circulated, changed, and taken shape in literary and artistic outlets since the emergence of modern science.

PRFDHR Seminar: Global Mobile Inventors, Dr. Dany Bahar

Dr. Bahar will present a comprehensive study on the dynamics of knowledge production and diffusion linked to global mobile inventors (GMIs). Together with his co-authors, Dr Bahar finds that GMIs are essential team members of the first few patents in technology classes new to the country of residence as compared to patents filed at later stages. They interpret these results as tangible evidence of GMIs facilitating the technology-specific diffusion of knowledge across nations.

Student Grants & FLAS Fellowships Info Session

An introduction and Q&A session for the funding opportunities offered by the European Studies Council and the Foreign Language Area Studies Fellowships (FLAS) during the summer and academic terms. Dr. Charles Bryan Jenkins, NRC/FLAS Program Officer of the Department of Education will provide a short presentation and answer questions regarding FLAS Fellowships.
